About Mountain Kilimanjaro
Mount Kilimanjaro, rising majestically to 5,895 meters, is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the world’s most iconic natural landmarks. Located in northern Tanzania, this free-standing volcanic giant towers above the surrounding plains and offers a trekking experience unlike any other on the continent. Known as the “Roof of Africa,” Kilimanjaro is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of adventure and discovery. The mountain consists of three volcanic cones – Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira – with the snow-capped Uhuru Peak on Kibo being the ultimate goal for trekkers from all over the world. Climbing Kilimanjaro is a journey through five distinct ecological zones, from lush montane forests to alpine desert and, finally, the stark glacier-covered summit. Along the way, trekkers experience dramatic changes in landscape and climate, as well as stunning views that stretch far across the East African plains. Unlike technical mountaineering peaks, Kilimanjaro can be summited by those with determination and proper preparation, making it accessible to adventurous travelers seeking a once-in-a-lifetime challenge. Popular routes such as Marangu, Machame, Lemosho, and Rongai each offer their own unique perspectives of the mountain. AYAD Safari Connect specializes in professionally guided Kilimanjaro expeditions, ensuring safety, acclimatization, and an enriching experience for climbers. Our expert mountain guides, porters, and support teams are committed to helping every guest reach the summit while enjoying the journey, making this trek one of the most unforgettable experiences Tanzania has to offer.

Machame Route 7 days
The Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey” route, is a six or seven day camping route and is most popular route on Kilimanjaro. This trail offers stunning views, a reasonable challenge, and plenty of time to acclimate, making it a good choice for those who have a bit of extra time in their schedule.
Lemosho Route 7 Days
The Lemosho Route is often considered the most beautiful of all the trekking trails up Mount Kilimanjaro. It crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower.
Northern Circuit 9 Days
The Northern Circuit Route is the longest route on Kilimanjaro. Its a 9-day trip that initially goes up the Lemosho route on the western side of Kilimanjaro to the Shira Plateau, then heads north and circles the main summit in a clockwise direction.
It then joins the Rongai route to climb the summit from the eastern side and descend straight down the southern Mweka route
Marangu Route 6 Day
The Marangu Route also known as the “Coca-Cola Route” is the oldest and most well established trekking route on Mount Kilimanjaro, and it remains extremely popular mainly because it is the only route on the mountain that has hut accommodation for trekkers.
Rongai Route 7 Days
Rongai route ascends Mount Kilimanjaro from the north-eastern side of the mountain, along the border between Tanzania and Kenya. The rongai route retains a sense of unspoiled wilderness
6 Day Umbwe Route
Umbwe route is one of the shortest routes to the Southern Glaciers and the western breach and is considered the hardest and challenging route on Mount Kilimanjaro. The rapid speed of the ascent and steepness makes acclimatization very difficult.
